Dr. Ilham Akbar Habibie Co-Founded Mitra Energia Ltd. in 2004. Dr. Habibie is the owner of PT Ilthabi Bara Utama and serves as its President and Director. He served as a scientist and lecturer at the Technical University of Munich for seven years. He went on to work as an engineer at Boeing Commercial Airplane Group in the United States, from 1994 to 1996. While working in the United States, he assisted the President Director of Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara (‘IPTN’) the state-owned aerospace company in Indonesia, on the N2130 Regional Jet Program.

He left PT. Dirgantara Indonesia in June 2001 to pursue his career in the private sector. From 1996 to 1998, he served as also the assistant to the Chairman of Badan Pengkajan dan Penerapan Teknogi (‘BPPT’) for Aeronautics and Advanced Technology. Since 2002, he has held senior positions at a number of Indonesian companies in the private sector, including Chief Executive Officer and President Director of PT. He owns 50 per cent. of Ilthabi Ltd., of Ilthabi Sdn Bhd. As well as its stake in Mitra (prior to Mitra’s acquisition), Ilthabi Sdn Bhd also has an investment in Aviation Support Ltd. His professional career has straddled both academia and the business sector including time with the Technical University of Munich, Germany, Boeing in the United States, Bandung Institute of Technology and P.T. He served at the ASEAN Secretariat for 16 years holding several senior positions with the last being the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN (Deputy Minister level) for ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) from January 2009 to March 2012. He is the youngest and the first professionally recruited Deputy in the history of ASEAN. He was instrumental in drafting, negotiating and concluding the AEC Blueprint, the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity and several ASEAN economic agreements and free trade agreements, including the framework for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). He provided leadership in the initial years of the implementation of the AEC Blueprint and forging a stronger engagement between ASEAN and the private sector, which he saw as key to building the AEC. He has concurrently held the role of President of Commissioners of PT Kievit Indonesia since 2007. He also serves as executive board member of the ASEAN Food and Beverage Alliance (AFBA). Hendro began his career with FrieslandCampina group in 1988 as Small Holder Plantation Manager of PT Dieng Djaya in Central Java, later becoming Deputy Director. He was relocated to Jakarta in 1995, first as Assistant Director then Site Director of PT Foremost Indonesia a dairy processing company. His achievements at these two FrieslandCampina companies resulted in his appointment as Human Resources and General Affairs Director of PT Friesche Vlag Indonesia from 1998 to 2003. Following the company’s transformation into PT Frisian Flag Indonesia, Hendro became Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Director, a role which he held for seven years. In 2007, Dr. Saran Kaur Gill was appointed the first Deputy Vice-Chancellor for the new portfolio of Industry and Community Partnerships at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia by the government of Malaysia. Over the past 7 years, she has strategically developed an innovative eco-system, creating opportunities for meaningful partnerships between the university and industry, NGOs, communities and government agencies. Through her ability to develop strong ties and work collaboratively with knowledge experts, UKM has been able to generate endowment funds worth more than RM20 million for the establishment of two chairs. These are the UKM-Sime Darby Foundation Chair for Sustainable Development – Towards Zero Waste Technology for the Oil Palm Industry (hosted at the Faculty of Engineering) and the UKM-Sime Darby Foundation Chair on Climate Change (hosted at the Institute of Climate Change Research). As Executive Director of the ASEAN Youth Volunteer- Leaders Programme, she has a strong passion for inspiring youth across ASEAN to develop leadership skills through volunteerism and community engagement.

Prof. Dr. Xiang Bing is the Founding Dean and a Professor of Chinese Business and Globalisation at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), a leading business school in China. Established in November 2002, CKGSB is China’s first privately funded and faculty- governed business school. Dr. Xiang’s research interests include the relationship between state and business, the reform of state-owned enterprises, innovation and the role of the private sector in China. He is a leading authority on Chinese business, innovations in China, the globalisation of Chinese companies and the global implications of the transformation of China. He is an independent board member of a number of companies listed in Hong Kong, mainland China and the US.
