Prior to co-founding Northstar, Patrick was Senior Vice President of Pacific Century Ventures Ltd in Tokyo, where he played a key role in the firm’s mergers, acquisitions and corporate business development in Japan. He started his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in London and New York.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, USA.

In 2009, Patrick was awarded Ernst & Young’s prestigious ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award.

The Straits Trading Company Limited had its first woman Chairman when Gek Khim took over the reins at the 126-year old publicly listed conglomerate in 2008 which has businesses in resources, property and hospitality. Concurrently, she is Executive Chairman of the Tecity Group, the majority shareholder of Straits Trading. She joined the Tecity Group in 1987 after practicing corporate law with Drew & Napier, one of the largest law firms in Singapore. She sits on the Board of publicly listed Capital Retail China Trust. 

Gek Khim’s interests go beyond business. She serves the public as Chairman of the National Environment Agency and is a Board member of the Singapore Totalisator Board and the Securities Industry Council. She is also the Deputy Chairman of the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation, a member of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Advisory Board and member of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies’s Board of Governors. 

A lawyer by training, Gek Khim graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1984.

Prior to AirAsia, he was the Financial Controller of Virgin Communications London before joining Warner Music International London in 1989. Promoted to Managing Director, Warner Music Malaysia in 1992 and to Regional Managing Director, Warner Music South East Asia in 1996. In 1999, he was the Vice President of Warner Music South East Asia. His awards include the Honor of the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, conferred by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 for services to promote commercial and educational links between the UK and Malaysia. In 2010, he received the Officer of the Legion d’Honneur award from the French government, the highest award that can be conferred on a non-French national.

He was named as one of the world’s most creative people in business for 2011 by New York-based business magazine Fast Company, and awarded the inaugural ‘Travel Business Leaders Award’ winner by CNBC.

On his appointment as President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia on March 2005, Emirsyah Satar became one of the youngest CEO of an airline company in the Asia Pacific region. He received his degree in Accounting from the University of Indonesia in 1978. Previously, he had accomplished academic programs at Sorbonne University in Paris.

In 1998, he was offered the position of Garuda Indonesia’s EVP Finance. During that time, he played a major role in the airline’s financial restructuring process carried out in 2001 which amounted to US$ 1.8 billion. Under his leadership, the airline has undergone a major financial and operational turnaround culminating in the IPO of Garuda Indonesia in February 2011.

Since 2008, he become Chairman of INACA (Indonesian National Air Carrier Associations). In 2010 he just appointed as a Member IATA Board of Governors (IATA: International Air Transport Association).

Alan Tan is Professor at the NUS Law School, specialising in Aviation Law, Maritime Law, Criminal Law and Environmental Law. Alan is Director of the NYU@NUS Dual Degree program that allows students to obtain two LL.M degrees from the New York University and NUS Law Schools.

Born in Penang, Malaysia, Alan was educated at the Penang Free School and Raffles Junior College, subsequently obtaining an LL.B from NUS and an LL.M and J.S.D. from Yale Law School. He was the winner of the Koh Han Kok Prize for International Law at NUS, and his doctoral thesis on the law and politics of shipping regulation won the Ambrose Gherini International Law Prize at Yale Law School. Alan has been a Justices’ Law Clerk for the Supreme Court of Singapore and has also interned at the International Maritime Organization in London. He has published widely on Maritime Law, Aviation Law and Environmental Law, particularly in the context of Asian countries. In 2006, his book “Vessel-Source Marine Pollution: The Law and Politics of International Regulation”, was published by Cambridge University Press. In the same year, his article in the Air & Space Law journal – “Liberalizing Aviation in the Asia-Pacific Region: The Impact of the E.U. Horizontal Mandate” – won the Diedriks-Verschoor Prize for best law article.

Alexander Rusli assumed the role of President Director and CEO as of 1st of November 2012 after serving as an Independent Commissioner since January 2010. Prior to his posts in government, Mr. Rusli was also a Principal Consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers Management Consulting, Indonesia. Mr. Rusli is an alumnus of the Curtin University, Western Australia and He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Information Systems.

Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala is Chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, the holding company of the oldest business group in the Philippines with interests in real estate, telecommunications, banking, electronics manufacturing, water distribution, automotive, business process outsourcing, power and transport infrastructure.

Mr. Zobel de Ayala is Chairman of the Harvard Business School Asia-Pacific Advisory Board, the Asia Business Council and the World Wildlife Fund Philippine Advisory Council. He is a member of the J.P. Morgan International Council and the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. He is also the Philippine Representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council. Mr David S.S. Chin is the Executive Director of the Singapore Maritime Foundation. The Foundation was established to serve as the link between the public and private sectors in the maritime industry. Nazir Razak is the Group Chief Executive/Managing Director of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd. He joined CIMB’s corporate advisory department in 1989 and was appointed Chief Executive in 1999. Nazir spearheaded the Group’s transformation from a Malaysian investment bank to a regional universal bank via several acquisitions throughout the region. Today, CIMB Group is Malaysia’s 2nd largest financial services group and the 5th largest in ASEAN.

Nazir received the “2012 Outstanding Achievement Award” from Euromoney in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Asian financial markets. He was also named “Best CEO (Malaysia)” by FinanceAsia in 2012 and 2011, while in 2010, Asiamoney recognised Nazir as the “Best Executive in Malaysia”. Chartsiri Sophonpanich is the President of Bangkok Bank, the largest commercial bank in Thailand. After working at Citibank in New York, he returned to Thailand to join Bangkok Bank in 1986. He held various senior management positions in Bangkok Bank before being appointed President in December 1994. Along with his responsibilities at Bangkok Bank, Mr. Chartsiri is also Chairman of the Thai Bankers’ Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University.

In 2005, Chartsiri received the Achievement Award for Leadership in Thailand from the Asian Banker magazine and the Robert H. Goddard Alumni Award from Worcester Polytechnic Institute for exceptional achievement in business.
